FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ottawa, ON, October 29, 2025 — The Prosperity Project (TPP), a national organization dedicated to dismantling systemic barriers to women’s economic success, applauds the Government’s investment of over $660 million to advance equality and safety for women and 2SLGBTQI+ communities.

“Canada’s economic prosperity depends on ensuring women from every background can thrive and lead,” said Julie Savard-Shaw, Executive Director of The Prosperity Project. “Women make up half of Canada’s population. Investing in them isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s the smart thing to do if we’re serious about fixing and growing the economy. This increased funding shows that in Canada we don’t just stand with women and gender-diverse people, we put real dollars behind our words.”

Today’s announcement carries forward the Gender Equality Week conversations led by TPP and partners on women’s economic security and leadership. With a $382.5 million, five-year commitment toward gender equality, the Minister of Finance is delivering the support women need to rise — advancing careers and strengthening Canada’s prosperity.

It’s now time for corporate Canada to do the same, to demonstrate that in this country, we don’t retreat from diversity, equity, and inclusion. We embrace it, because we know it’s not just a moral imperative it’s a smart investment in Canada’s future.
