The Prosperity Project’s third installation of the Women in STEM webinar series “Ignite with STEM” focuses on inspiring women in the workforce and supporting their passion for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math careers. Each webinar will feature distinct female speakers from across Canada who will discuss their experiences in STEM careers. Throughout the session, you will be able to participate in a Q&A, so come with your questions prepared!

  • One-hour webinars will take place on February 11th and 25th, 2021.
  • Speakers from the industry will provide success stories, information and resources about careers in STEM.

The Women in STEM webinar series is presented by The Prosperity Project and Ontario Power Generation. Conceived by more than 60 female leaders in early 2020, The Prosperity Project is a not-for-profit organization that is working to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 on women and girls in Canada.

Maureen Jensen

Maureen Jensen

Maureen Jensen is a Registered Professional Geoscientist, holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and has a Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa). She has been a leader in the investment industry and securities regulation for more than 20 years and is the Past Chair and CEO of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC). Currently, she is a Director of Franco-Nevada Corporation, Board of Directors at the Toronto Centre for Global Leadership in Financial Supervision and is Chair of The Prosperity Project. She also sits on the Windsor business school Deans advisory committee and the Capital Markets Institute Advisory Committee at the Rotman School of business.

Amanda Hall

Amanda Hall

Amanda Hall is the CEO and Founder of Summit Nanotech. She is a professional geophysicist with 15 years of experience working in the oil & gas and mining industries and 4 years of experience in an industrial laboratory in Toronto. After graduating from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelors of Science degree majoring in Biology and minoring in Physics and English, she went on to pursue a second Bachelors of Science in Geophysics at the University of Calgary. 

Lauren Dalgliesh

Lauren Dalgliesh

Lauren Dalgliesh is a Manager in Deloitte’s Infrastructure Advisory and Project Finance practice in Toronto. Prior to joining Deloitte, she worked for the World Bank in Washington D.C. in their Global Engagement department, and in Toronto as a project manager for a construction firm. She regularly supports federal, provincial and municipal clients as well as international governments and international development organizations with the planning, procurement and delivery of infrastructure PPP projects in a variety of asset classes. Lauren holds a Master of Global Affairs from the Munk School of Global Affairs and a Master of Engineering in Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry from the University of Toronto.

Lisa McBride

Lisa McBride

Lisa McBride is President of Women in Nuclear (WiN) Canada and is also the Chair of the Women for STEM Council at Ontario Tech University. Lisa has over 17 years of experience in the nuclear industry, starting her career with Ontario Power Generation, and has held numerous managerial roles. In her day job, Lisa is the Country Leader, Small Modular Reactors for GE Hitachi’s Nuclear Products Division. She holds a Master of Arts Degree in Leadership from the University of Guelph.

Cybele Negris

Cybele Negris

Cybele Negris is a serial entrepreneur, seasoned board member, speaker, mentor, columnist and a Hall of Fame inductee of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women.

She is CEO and Co-Founder of Webnames.ca and serves on the boards of the Royal Canadian Mint, BCAA, Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver and Science World. Some of her recognitions include BC Business Most Influential Women in Business 2018, 2017, 2015, Business in Vancouver’s Influential Women in Business 2010 and Top 40 Under 40 2003. Cybele is also a columnist for Business in Vancouver and speaks at dozens of events each year including TEDx and Level Up Conference.

Dr. Christine Williams

Dr. Christine Williams

Dr. Christine Williams is an immunologist, serving as the Deputy Director and Head, Clinical Translation at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR). As part of the OICR’s executive team, Dr. Williams works with the Institute’s scientists, senior leaders and partners to develop and implement strategic priorities across the Institute’s research programs. She has a degree in Life Sciences from Queen’s University and a PhD in Immunology from the University of Toronto and has held various leadership positions at the Canadian Cancer Society, most recently as its Chief Mission Officer and Scientific Director, responsible for strategy development and program delivery nationwide. Currently, Dr. Williams is a board member for the Canadian Cancer Research Alliance, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, The Canadian Cancer Clinical Trials, BioCanRx and CanPath.

Jeanette Southwood is VP, Corporate Affairs and Strategic Partnerships at Engineers Canada. Prior to joining Engineers Canada, Jeanette led the Canadian Urban Development & Infrastructure Sector and the Global Sustainable Cities teams at an international consulting firm. She is a recipient of the Province of Ontario’s “Leading Women Building Communities Award,” was honoured as one of Canada’s Clean50, inducted as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, has received an Honorary Doctorate—the Ontario Professional Engineers Awards (OPEA) Engineering Excellence Medal—and was twice named one of WXN Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women.
